Do you know when the school year starts?

Year after year, the return of summer and the beginning of the school year marks the return of students and teachers to the classrooms , bringing with it the promise of new learning, challenges and experiences. In Spain, this moment is both expected and feared, by young people, their families and teachers in equal measure.

With the start date approaching, it is necessary to remember the date of joining classes. Although the beginning period generally covers the month of September, which coincides with the end of summer and the return to the school routine, each autonomous community has its own school calendar. This means that the exact dates may vary from one autonomous community to another, self-determining the start and end dates of the course. In turn, each educational stage has its own dates, so in this article we are going to discover when we have to mark our “back to school” on the calendar.

Andalusia

In this Autonomous Community classes will begin next Monday, September 11 , for the stages of Early Childhood Education and Primary Education. Four days later, Friday, September 15, will be when the Secondary Education and Baccalaureate students return to the classrooms.

< h2 style="font-weight: 400;">Aragón

The return in Aragón will take place a few days before, when the < strong>Thursday, September 7, the stages of Early Education and Primary Education have marked their return. As in Andalusia, a few days later the students of Secondary Education and Baccalaureate will begin the course, more specifically next Friday, September 15 >.

Asturias

Unlike the previous ones, The same dates are established by this Autonomous Community so that students enrolled from the stage of Early Childhood Education to Baccalaureate begin the new course. In this way, the chosen day was Monday, September 11.

Balearic Islands

The Balearic Islands have the same school calendar as Asturias. Therefore, all educational stages will return from their vacations and will join the classrooms on Monday, September 11.

Canary Islands

In this Autonomous Community we find ourselves in a rather special situation. And, although officially the day established for students from Early Childhood Education to Baccalaureate is Monday, September 11, it may be the case that some schools start a day later.

Cantabria

The day Thursday, September 7 is the day marked in the Cantabrian calendars for the “back to school” in the cases of Early Childhood and Primary Education. However, those students who attend the stages of Compulsory Secondary Education and Baccalaureate will extend their rest until the following day. Thus, classes will begin on Friday, September 8.

Castilla-La Mancha

It will also be on Thursday, September 7 when students from all stages have to prepare their backpacks and materials to return to classes in Castilla-La Mancha.

Castilla y León

Although it has the same calendar as Castilla-La Mancha for Early Childhood Education and Primary Education, that is, it starts on Thursday, September 7, there is a difference in which students and Secondary and Baccalaureate students will not begin their classes until the following week, specifically on Wednesday September 13.

Catalunya

Earlier will be the “back to school” of Catalan girls and boys . In this Autonomous Community the school calendar begins on Wednesday, September 6 for Early Childhood Education and Primary Education. However, the holidays for Secondary and Baccalaureate students will be extended until Tuesday, September 12.

Ceuta

The Autonomous City of Ceuta establishes Thursday as the first day of the course September 7, both for its first stages and for Secondary and Baccalaureate.

Valencian Community

The new course in this Autonomous Community is scheduled for next Monday, September 11, for all stages.

Extremadura

In Extremadura we also distinguish several dates. The first of them is on Monday, September 11, where the students of Early Childhood and Primary Education are called to join the classrooms. A particular case is in the higher stages, where the calendar is subject to modifications depending on the educational center.

Euskadi

Same day is the marking in all educational stages in Euskadi to inaugurate the 2023-2024 school year. Thus, on Thursday, September 7 classes will start and the return to the classrooms will take place in this Autonomous Community.

Galicia

As with other Autonomous Communities, the beginning of the school year in Galicia is set for Monday, September 11, both for the stages of Early Education and Primary Education and for Secondary and Baccalaureate.

La Rioja

As occurred in the previous case, all stages educationalhave the same start day established. However, in La Rioja, students will begin the course a few days earlier, the date being Thursday, September 7.

Community of Madrid

Together with Catalonia, the schools in the Community of Madrid will be the first to open their doors. Thus, on Wednesday, September 6 a new course will be inaugurated in the stages of Early Childhood and Primary Education, extending the break one more day, until Thursday, September 7 September, for Secondary and Baccalaureate students.

Melilla

In this Autonomous City the return to classes will take place on Thursday, September 7 for students of all educational stages.

Murcia

One day later, Friday, September 8 will be when the Preschool and Primary students of Murcia inaugurate the new school year. Until the following Monday September 11 the students of Secondary and Baccalaureate will have to wait for their return.

Navarra

Like some previous cases, the beginning of the course in Early Childhood Education and Primary Education, as well As in Secondary Education and Baccalaureate in Navarra, it is subject to the decision of the centers, and can begin from Thursday, September 7 to Monday, September 11.
